"Maybe a 16-sided wheel isn't enough even for the 5k poly interior; I'll see how it looks before doubling it though." -Stereo
"I added some small carbon fibre bits (hood vents, front latches, the vent behind the window) and made the front bumper the first piece that has 0 holes in it (except from underneath, and in the wheel well...)" -Stereo
"My exterior todo list is done now, so I'm going to try exporting it to another game. Easier to check the reflections and stuff with realtime rendering and a more detailed scene. Then I guess I'll get started on the interior..." -Stereo
After receiving the CAD from Crawford Composites, our team got to work turning it into a usable 3D model. This is the first test. Stereo put it on the Viper GTD with the Porsche wing supports still attached to the wing (they're removed now). Again, thanks to David C. for the CAD.
Stereo has made some good progress on the SRT Vipers. He's currently focussing on the GTD variant. "Starting with the GT3-R rear diffuser because I have marginally better pictures of it... I still have no idea what's actually under there...The rear jacks and diff seem to be visible, behind more mesh, but I don't know how it's laid out. Mesh might be right behind the wheels, with the rest flat on top, or there could be contours I can't see.
On the GTS-R, the 2012-2013 photos all show it being quite a bit narrower (as well as not having the strakes) but I've got nothing to show how it changed for 2014, if at all. Anyway, GT3-R for now." -Stereo "Front splitter and somewhat of the grille (there's a mesh layer in there too which I don't have a texture for) I'll be rounding off the edges later, when I start to push the polycount to 60k. Despite the reflections, it is solid - those are bouncing off like 4 times." -Stereo
"Actually, one quick thing before I do the complicated carbon bits... front/rear windows are nice and quick to fill in." -Stereo
"Well, the bodywork is now 'complete'; will be going over a lot of it with the bevel tool, filling in the panel gaps, and so on, of course." -Stereo
"The GTS and GT3 rear wings cut through the trunk in different places (the GT3's comes out closer together, and does a gooseneck thing; GTS goes straight up). Not gonna do anything about it yet, but that's why I've left it as neither." -Stereo
"Finished the roof and added the rear quarter panel (which still needs the rear-facing bits modeled); both need stuff cut into them but seems to be car-specific (gas tank is different on the GT3 and GTS anyway)." -Stereo
"Mostly the door, but also various tweaks, and the bit of panel at the front edge of the door.
A lot of places that'll get smoothed out once the whole body is done and I know how many polies I've got left in the budget." -Stereo "The actual 'lights' are temporary, I needed something round to model towards. Also for some reason blender won't do anti-aliasing on stuff that's behind transparent objects so the shadow's kinda jagged. Shrug."
"Front bumper's another part with a lot of corners going on, still trying to wrangle everything into the right rough shape before I add a bunch of polies. Then probably the front splitter & intake can get some detail." -Stereo
