“If any team is using a simulator for driver development and/or setup development and they aren’t using IER, they are already behind.” —Thomas Merrill

  • Testing

IER has analyzed an overwhelming amount of test data over the course of working with dozens of clients. From shaker, to K&C, to CMM, to CoG & MOI, to wind tunnel, to tire rigs, we can help you structure and execute your testing plan to maximize your return on investment. Simply put, we know how to make the most out of testing.

  • Data Analysis

Certain tests can produce billions of data points, and most racing teams are simply not equipped to analyze that magnitude on their own. With years of experience in possibly the most data-driven sector of the automotive industry, we have seen it all. We can expedite your analysis process through the use of the in-house tools we have developed across years of data analysis.

By necessity, the simulation model staff at IER have also become experts at finding bad data. Something not adding up in your on-track data? Is your test data not translating to the real car as expected? Do you simply want another set of eyes on your data? We can help.

  • Simulation Engineering & Programs

    Development, development, development.

With our simulation engineering programs, clients can benefit from IER’s constant R&D process to see tangible, cutting edge improvements to their vehicle models on a recurring basis. The more we can invest into our own development, the more our simulation engineering clients benefit.

Working over the course of a racing season, we can help your engineers and drivers with event prep and post-event analysis to ensure you are maximizing your potential from simulation. Setup suggestions, driving analysis & comparison, baseline lap times, and hardware optimization are just a few of the offerings of our programs, which have seen fantastic success in recent years.

  • On-Track Support

Being present at the race track allows us to pick up on driver feedback, car behavior, and team processes that might otherwise be lost in a remote simulation program. Especially during test days, it can be a significant boost to the information gathered, allowing us to communicate back and forth with drivers and engineers in real-time, as the car turns laps. Comprehensive back-and-forth discussion with drivers can greatly enhance the efficacy of our correlation process, allowing us to inquire about car behavior nuances or track details that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Currently offered in America only, subject to special exception.

FAQs

  • Simulation engineering is a very specific field with extreme consequences to inexperience. Many excellent race/performance engineers, for example, would not make excellent simulation engineers (and vice versa!), as there is a significant portion of required expertise that does not overlap. To that end, finding an engineer with in-depth, simulation-specific experience can be very difficult, and is something even OEMs struggle with.

With IER, you don’t have to worry about making the right hire—we live and breathe simulation and have done so for more than a decade. Our software package is the result of many years of development that is unique to our offerings and is competitive in feature set with the best racing OEMs.

Our junior and senior engineers additionally benefit from internal communication and process checks, allowing for fewer errors and more productive work than a single employee.

Simply put, our work efficiency, collective experience, and technological capabilities are greater than what can be realized from a single employee.

  • We will typically quote costs on a per-project, per-season basis, taking the client’s needs into consideration and coming up with a program that best suits their budget.

Our pricing structure is then handled on a month-to-month basis, with the option for clients to back out at any time if unsatisfied. In the five years of offering this service, we are proud to say that this has never happened.

  • We offer our on-track services on an expense-only basis when coupled with our simulation engineering services — clients will only be charged for our travel expenses. If we are catering to multiple clients, costs will be split equally between them.

We value the benefits of working with our clients face to face, and are happy to offer these services at-cost when we have an engineering service agreement with a client.
